Job description summary:

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled senior buyer/planner to be a member of our operations department. Reporting to the operations manager, the primary purpose of the senior buyer/planner will be to perform the material planning for their assigned items in the supply chain. This function is responsible for and manages these activities: purchasing; materials planning (Kanban, MRP, and PFEP); supplier relationships; and coordinating with product management, sales, distribution, assembly, warranty, and quality departments. This position must have a high level of experience and negotiation ability.

Essential duties & responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute procurement for a variety of purchased goods, both raw and finished goods
  • Responsible for issuing purchase orders and work orders.
  • Monitor factors such as lead times, quality, costs, source availability, etc. to identify and assure appropriate procurement and material levels
  • Proactively report product and material availability issues to appropriate departments and management
  • Maintain strong working relationships and effective communications with suppliers-domestic and international-confirming their open orders are scheduled to meet our company's on-time delivery requirements
  • Maintain strong working relationships and communications with other departments (internal customers) and resolves supply chain problems as they arise
  • Secure and analyze quotations; negotiate prices and terms with suppliers; and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities
  • Maintain inventory programs and spreadsheets; input and retrieve data as needed
  • Coordinate and maintain Kanban, MRP, and PFEP systems in conjunction with the PFEP coordinator
  • Experience with ISO standards and compliance is preferred
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Constantly strive to meet or exceed company goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned Experience & skills:
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, supply chain, or other related degree programs is required
    • 10+ years of buyer planning experience in an industrial, manufacturing, and/or distribution environment
    • Experience in working with foreign currency and international supply chains
    • Experience in reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings
    • Demonstrated ability to drive positive change across functional and departmental boundaries
    • Must be flexible to perform a variety of assignments and adapt to changing conditions
    • Self-motivated and proactive work ethic
    • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
    • Experience with ERP systems; IFS is preferred
    • Advanced skills in Excel
    • CPM/CPSM or CPIM/CSCP certification, or certification in progress
