LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT
Oversee the development, coordination, implementation, marketing
and evaluation of the Guardian Scholars program, providing
post-secondary access and success services for students who are
transitioning out of the foster care system in Indiana.
Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience presenting information to professionals.
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral
and written); ability to work independently, as well as part of a
team, and represent the Guardian Scholars program and the division
of Student Affairs in a professional manner to both on- and
off-campus audiences; strong ability to identify priorities, and
work to meet deadlines; ability to organize, author, and produce
materials and reports in a timely, thorough, and accurate
AUTHORIZATION TO WORK IN THE US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be
employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Experience with foster care systems and foster care youth;
experience with academic support and/or student services programs
in a collegiate environment; experience with software, preferably
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and database
Requires successful completion of a background check and education

Duties & Responsibilities
Provide overall coordination of the Ball State Guardian Scholars
program, serving eligible students (current or former foster
youth), and provide continued consultation and support
Coordinate recruitment activities with Office of Admissions,
including preparing marketing materials, outreach to schools and
child welfare agencies and other possible referral sources,
presenting at off campus workshops and professional meetings,
developing/distributing newsletters and program updates, and
oversee applicant review and selection process at Ball State.
Provide support to University personnel as needed/assigned in
fundraising activities and program support.
Liaise with relevant Ball State offices, including Admissions,
Financial Aid, Learning Center, Counseling Center, and Career
Provide and coordinate one-on-one services and referrals on behalf
of Ball State Guardian Scholars students.
Track all program outcome-related and student-level data for Ball
State Guardian Scholars; includes (but not limited to): retention,
transfer data, academic progress, graduation rates, determining
student compliance with program expectations, etc., to implement
long and short-term plans; design evaluation forms/methods to
measure success and regularly track program objectives; provide
regular report summaries on all relevant outcomes to the Assistant
Dean of Students, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Guardian
Scholars Advisory Board through building and use of data
Organize and facilitate the program s Stakeholder Committee, and
Advisory Board meetings.
Research and implement best-practices approach/activities to
post-secondary support program for former foster youth and homeless
and housing insecure youth.
Supervise all program activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
