Role Summary Collaborate with other financial staff in the company
to provide financial and accounting support to the controller,
management, and department heads who establish goals and budgets
for the organization. A strong focus on fixed assets will exist.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller/Assistant Controller with Month-end,
quarter-end, and year-end schedules and templates
- Collect and analyze data about a company's operational
costs
- Prepare forecasts and budgets
- Assist with establishing working budgets for departments and
analyze the performance against these budgets
- Set standard costs of manufactured goods
- Develop and analyze cost standards
- Establish costs of business processes such as administration,
labor, shipping, etc.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of key balance sheet and income
statement accounts and investigate key variances
- Preparing audit reports and presenting findings to
management
- Recommending changes to the company's processes and policies to
reduce cost and maximize profit
- Advise management on appropriate costing based on financial
data
- Help manage the company's balance sheet and accounting
books
- Supporting other company accountants with invoicing (both
accounts payable and accounts receivable)
- Prepare reports and projections based on financial data
- Evaluate current and previous financial data
- Study business and economic trends
- Determine a company's value by examining its financial
statements
- Responsible for identification, recording, valuation,
accounting, reporting and timely capitalization of capital
projects, the reconciliation and reporting of capital work in
progress and to carryout revaluation
- Complex analyses concerning sales volumes, comparison of actual
parts sold to budgeted
- Administer the Fixed Asset sub-ledger, complete with all
necessary reporting and controls. Generate and enter depreciation
entry.
- Participate in both internal and external financial audit
preparation
- Assist in the preparation/analysis/submission of the annual
Budget/Reforecast Key Qualifications/Requirements
- University Degree or College Diploma - Accounting background
required
- Three (3) years related experience required
- Working knowledge of SAP, considered a definite asset
- Hard working and goal oriented
- Must be computer literate and have proven experience in PC
Software such as MS Office, especially Excel, knowledge of database
is an asset
- Highly developed time management and follow-up skills with the
ability to handle multiple-tasks
- Strong task ownership and superior work ethic
- Strong Communication skills required (both spoken and
written)
- Must be flexible in respect to hours of work, including
